a little bird, before it was ready,
decided to fly.
"i will fly," it said to no one in particular,
"because i am a bird.
look, my wings flap, how hard can it be?
i'll surprise my parents and i'll fly!"
so the little bird lept from the nest,
and flapped (and mostly glided and fell) to the ground,
at which point it realized
flying is more than flapping your wings.
it requires strength to keep aloft,
control to head in the right direction.
the little bird, seeing itself grounded,

Weeeellllcome back, ladies and gentlemen! Yes! We've got an excellent show for you today, don't we boys?
PIRATE BAND plays a bar. AUDIENCE cheering.
HOST:
That's right, so today... Today, ladies and gentlemen, we have a very special guest. With less visits to the dentist than Barbossa, more dreadlocks than Jack Sparrow, better cleavage than Elizabeth, and cooler tricks than Will can do, its... TIA DALMA!!!
AUDIENCE cheers. BAND plays. TIA DALMA walks out, waves. A few CRABS scuttle across the floor.
Silence falls as the clock reaches twenty past.
The conversation has died now, as well it should for the time.
The only sounds are of the people breathing into their drinks,
not wanting to strike up a new conversation,
and even less willing to finish the last.
How did this begin?
Mid-conversation, the one who had not spoken much
put forth her voice and left her opinion
perhaps a little too violently
(though she thought she slipped it there with utmost grace)
upon the table.
And as the words lay to rest there,
those which had gathered previously
drew together and plotted to destroy the newcomers
even though they wore the same col

So I went ahead and appealed to the fangirl usually kept restrained in the basement by sketching out, on the same legal pad as the others, the entire bath house sequence.
But I'm not going to post them,
a) cause they're sucky rough pen sketches that throw the laws of physics, anatomy, and perspective out the window.
b) it would spoil the story.
and
c) because I need to stop posting on here and get to work on my M.C. Escher piece that's due next Friday. Which will get scanned and posted, because Escher rocks, so my hapless endeavors to imitate him deserve some attention.
Oh yeah, I'm also picking my next semester classes over the course
... Ok, ok, it's a fan fic. XP
"Character Arc" sounds so much cooler, tho. Oh well.
In any event, I'm in the process of planning out plot and characters for a manga that will be a fan fic centered around Gaara from Naruto (BUT there is a secret little surpriser-thingus for InuYasha fans - and I'm only crossing canons a teeny bit, but meh...)
I really love the drawing style of mangas, and slowly but surely (mostly slowly), I'm developing my own kind of style in that genre.
SO PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put up with the crappiness in the beginning. I've been telling myself every day that it's going to be crappy at first, and that once I'm bett
I must confess, I could only get about 1/4 of the way through Pygmy, and I'm really disappointed with myself because I just didn't have the patience to get past the weird dialect.
Haunted is pretty good. I liked the message. Choke and Fight Club are still tied for first for me, for favorites.
I need to read his nonfiction.
Hehe, my copy of Clockwork was someone's from a college course, so all of the slang/dialect was "translated" right above the word, so it made reading super easy. XD
